Club Fugazi

Revered by millions as the home of the long-running hit Beach Blanket Babylon, Club Fugazi has a storied history that dates back to it’s opening in 1914. Among the iconic events that have taken place on this site are Thelonious Monk’s live recording of Thelonious Alone in San Francisco, The Grateful Dead’s first album release party, early comedy sets by Robin Williams, and the 45-year run of Beach Blanket.

Today, Club Fugazi is home to another long-running hit, DEAR SAN FRANCISCO. This acrobatic love letter to the city created by The 7 Fingers first opened in a newly renovated room that enhances its nightclub vibe and showcases the jaw-dropping skill of world-class acrobats seven shows each week. The show is a favorite date night, was named Best Family Outing, and San Francisco’s Best Night Out by San Francisco Magazine. The five-star reviews across all platforms are a solid indication that audiences agree, and the venue has maintained the coveted Travelers Choice award from TripAdvisor from the beginning.

The Club features a curated menu of ciccheti, a mix of small bites, shareable plates, and desserts all selected from local vendors by Chef Auden Golder. The wine and beer list has an Italian focus and is curated by Italian expert Vito Passero. The result is an experience as delightful and surprising as the work on stage is.

DEAR SAN FRANCISCO runs Wednesday through Sunday, with 7 performances each week. The Club also plays host to live music events, film, and a Sunday drag brunch so there’s almost always a reason to drop by even when the acrobats are not performing.

It’s more of an event than a business, but Circus Saturdays in Washington Square Park is a wonderful weekly happening that draws all walks to the park to experiment with circus arts. It’s a lively, friendly, and all-levels event that makes terrific use of a public space.
